A multi-vehicle crash that occurred this evening on the I-287 in Bridgewater is under investigation.
The crash happened in the southbound outer lanes near mile marker 17.2 shortly before 6 p.m. sending emergency responder to the scene where they observed several badly damaged vehicles with trapped occupants inside.
Rescue crews were able to extricate two victims from the vehicle and air lift them to an area hospital suffering severe injuries.
About three other people were taken to the hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
