Authorities from the NJ State Police are investigating a violent crash that occurred on the Garden State Parkway in Union overnight.
Police were called to the northbound lanes of the highway near exit 140 in Union at around 1 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash with injuries.
Emergency responders arriving at the scene found as many as three vehicles involved in the crash with one of the cars causing a driver's airbag to deploy.
State Troopers closed all lanes of the highway to assist victims suffering non-fatal injuries and remove cars from the roadway according to authorities.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
