Multi-Vehicle Collision on Route 70 Leaves One Critically Injured

Brick Township police responded to a four-car collision at Route 70 and Duquesne Boulevard on the morning of December 28, according to a statement from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.JamaicanOfficers arrived at the scene shortly after 8:30 a.m.  

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, alongside the Brick Township Police Department, revealed that a Volkswagen minivan rear-ended a Hyundai Sonata that had been waiting at a red light in the westbound lane of Route 70.

The force of the impact caused the Sonata to collide with a Ford F250 pickup truck and a Dodge Ram pickup truck, both of which were also stopped at the light.  

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he remains in critical condition.

The Volkswagen minivan driver was treated at Ocean University Medical Center in Brick Township and later released.

The drivers of the Ford and Dodge trucks did not sustain any injuries.  

Authorities confirmed that the crash remains under active investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, the High Tech Crime Unit, and the Brick Township Police Department.
