Multi-Vehicle Collision in Newark's West Ward Leaves One Critically Injured

Newark police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash in the West Ward early Tuesday morning.NinosThe incident, reported around 1:05 a.m. near the intersection of 13th Avenue and Grove Street, involved up to four cars, with one of the vehicles with two victims trapped inside.

 University Hospital Rescue services arrived and immediately engaged in a complex extrication operation.

While rescuers worked to free the trapped individuals, Newark police issued an alert to area hospitals, anticipating possible additional victims from a vehicle that had fled the scene.

Shortly after, police discovered a white vehicle associated with the incident abandoned in the 400 block of 18th Avenue.

Back at the crash scene, EMS teams transported an unconscious and unresponsive individual to the hospital for critical care. Reports suggest another vehicle implicated in the crash also fled the scene.

The search for those responsible for leaving the scene continues as the investigation into this collision remains active.
