The driver of a car, who reportedly suffered a medical condition while operating the vehicle, engaged in a collision that involved multiple cars in Newark's West Ward on Wednesday night suffered serious injuries according to authorities.
The multi-car crash involved about four vehicles happened in the 80's block of Stuyvesant Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. where emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the collision with one of the cars involved crashed into a building causing minor damage at that location.
The driver of the vehicle that reportedly initiated the crash was found unconscious after suffering what is believed to be a diabetic emergency according to reports. EMS transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. The extent of the injury is unknown.
There were no other severe injuries reported.
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation by The Newark Police department.
