Firefighters in Ocean County battled a multi-alarm fire that tore through several stores at a strip mall in Toms River overnight.
Heavy fire ripped through coming from the 2100 block of U.S. 9 had firefighters on the scene at approximately 12:05 a.m. where they arrived to find flames tearing through the roof of a building that houses a pizzeria, Mexican eatery, a nail salon, and cleaners.
Firefighters from several municipalities assisted in bringing the blaze under control in just under two hours with the cause under investigation.
As of 4:44 am, police closed all lanes on US-9 at Maple Avenue in Toms River Township according to police.
There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
