A months-long investigation into a drug distribution network led to multiple raids and arrests across North Jersey, according to information released by the Wayne Police Department.
The operation, conducted on January 28, 2025, was a joint effort involving Wayne Police, the New Jersey State Police, and several local law enforcement agencies.
Authorities targeted locations in Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook, Paterson, Bloomfield, and Montague as part of a coordinated crackdown on illegal drug activity.
The raids resulted in the seizure of firearms, narcotics, and cash, dealing a significant blow to what investigators identified as a well-established drug trafficking operation.
Among the items confiscated were multiple firearms, including an AR-15 rifle, several handguns, a ballistic vest with gang markings, and high-capacity magazines.
Officers also recovered nearly 6,000 folds of heroin, five ounces of cocaine, ecstasy tablets, methamphetamine, and five pounds of marijuana. Authorities seized approximately $23,923 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Several individuals were arrested during the operation, with charges ranging from maintaining a drug production facility and drug distribution to weapons possession and money laundering.
Among those taken into custody was Michael Ortega, 42, of Elmwood Park, who faces charges of operating a narcotics facility and possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine, among other offenses.
Other suspects included Jorge Jimenez, 35, of Bloomfield, and Jaime Arango, 42, of Bergenfield, both charged with drug possession and distribution, including offenses near a school zone.
Jason Guadagno, 46, of Montague, was also arrested and charged with multiple weapons violations, including possession of an assault weapon and a ghost gun.
One of the suspects, Andre Hamilton, 42, of Saddle Brook, was charged with failing to notify law enforcement of an address change and was released on a summons.
The remaining suspects were charged on warrants and are being held pending detention hearings.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues efforts to dismantle illegal drug operations throughout the region.
