Authorities in Morris County announced the sentencing of Joseph Guzman, 44, of Mount Olive, in connection with a November 2022 arrest.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said on October 27, 2023, Guzman pled guilty to one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
According to officials, on August 16, the Honorable Claudia Jones, J.S.C. imposed a sentence of 3 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Guzman will also be required to register pursuant to Megan’s Law and will be on Parole Supervision for Life, authorities say.
He is not to have any contact with the victim or the victim’s family. Guzman had been charged on November 23, 2022, following an investigation conducted by the Mount Olive Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, officials said.
Officials stated the investigation revealed that Guzman had explicit contact with a 16-year-old female victim at Joseph Vincent’s Salon in Mount Olive on August 10, 2022.
Guzman was the victim’s employer and supervisor at the salon, officials say.
