Police in Berkeley Heights shut down a section of Plainfield Avenue Wednesday evening to investigate a crash that left a motorcyclist in critical condition.Emergency responders, including police, EMS, and firefighters, were dispatched to the area near 1030 Plainfield Avenue around 5:50 p.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting the incident.
Upon arrival, first responders found the motorcyclist lying unconscious and unresponsive in a grassy area off the road.
The injured rider was immediately transported to Overlook Hospital in Summit, where he is reportedly in life-threatening condition.
The Union County Fatal Crash Investigation Team has joined local authorities to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Police have not yet confirmed whether other vehicles were involved in the accident.The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
