A motorcycle crash that seriously injured a man in Newark's West Ward early Thursday morning has police investigating.
The crash happened at around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and 18th Avenue where emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving calls for a crash at that locations.
Crews arrived to the scene to find a collision that involved a motorcycle and car at that location.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown several feet from the motorcycle where he landed on the ground. The impact destroyed the motorcycle witnesses said.
The vehicle that was involved in the collision, came to a halt by striking a tree.
EMS transported the motorcyclist to the hospital suffering serious injuries.
A spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutors Office could not confirm a fatality.
The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured.
The crash is under investigation.
