An early morning motor vehicle stop in Newark's North Ward ended with a physical attack on a police officer.
According to a brief statement released by Newark Police officials, police pulled over a car occupied by several people in the vicinity of Bloomfield Avene and Garside Street at approximately 5:45 a.m.
During the course of the investigation, the girl reportedly struck a police officer causing non-life threatening injuries according to Newark Police officials.
The girl was taken into custody while police detained two others.
Police officials said they would update when formal charges are lodged against the suspects.
The incident remains under investigation.
