Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Captain Joseph Costello has earned a distinguished spot among a select group of law enforcement leaders after graduating from the FBI National Academy, according to a statement released by Morris County officials.
Captain Costello was one of 244 officers from across the globe who completed the rigorous 10-week training program at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The graduation ceremony, held on March 13, 2025, marked the conclusion of the 293rd session of the academy, with FBI Director Kash Patel delivering the keynote address and presenting certificates to graduates.
This session brought together law enforcement professionals from 48 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., along with representatives from 24 countries, 11 military branches, and four federal civilian organizations.
The FBI National Academy is renowned worldwide for its focus on leadership development, communication skills, and physical fitness.
Courses are taught by highly qualified instructors, including FBI special agents and experts with advanced degrees—many of whom are recognized internationally in their respective fields.
Participants are selected based on their exemplary service and extensive experience in law enforcement, averaging 21 years in the profession.
Captain Costello’s graduation places him among an elite group—he is only the eighth individual from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office to complete the program since the academy’s inception in 1935.

His achievement stresses the Prosecutor’s Office’s commitment to professional development and public safety excellence at both local and national levels.
