A Morris County man has been charged with producing and possessing explicit images of minors, as well as enticing a minor, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.
Carlos Xavier Urbina-Gutierrez, 23, of Wharton, New Jersey, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Leda Dunn Wettre on charges of possession of explicit images of minors and enticing a minor to produce such content.
According to court documents, in 2023, Urbina-Gutierrez posed as a high school student in Morris County and used a fake female persona on social media to communicate with minor male students.
On December 25, 2023, he solicited one of the victims to engage in explicit behavior during a video call, which he secretly recorded and saved to his phone.
A forensic search of Urbina-Gutierrez’s phone revealed the recorded video.
The charge of producing explicit images of minors carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years.
The investigation is ongoing.
