Newark and the surrounding North Jersey area are starting the day with cloudy and foggy conditions this Wednesday morning.The region, waking up at 4:30 a.m. to overcast skies, is bracing for a day filled with precipitation.
Rain is expected to start after sunrise, allowing for a relatively smooth morning commute. However, continuous precipitation is anticipated across North Jersey as the morning progresses into midday.
Some areas may experience heavy showers, while others might see lighter rainfall.
The National Weather Service forecasts showers and thunderstorms, likely before 2 p.m. today, with a high near 83 degrees.
Winds will be light and variable, becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight, NWS forecasters said the chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue mainly before 11 p.m., with a slight chance of more thunderstorms after 5 a.m. Temperatures will dip to a low of around 73 degrees.
Residents are advised to enjoy their day but remember to carry an umbrella to stay dry amidst the expected showers and thunderstorms.
