Police officials in Newark are reporting that their Vice Task Force has arrested seven individuals as part of its prostitution operation conducted on Friday.
According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, in response to citizen complaints, a quality of life operation was initiated in the area of Sherman Avenue from East Bigelow and Clifton streets.
Director Ambrose said the operation resulted in each individual arrested facing a charge of Soliciting Prostitution.
According to Director Ambrose, two of the arrested individuals are from out of town; namely: Mr. Anthony Duca, 68, of Montville and Mr. Cesar M. Cedeno-Marquez, 46, of Kearny.
Authorities say those individuals arrested who are from Newark are: Ms. Shawna Miley, 42; Mr. Charles Randolph, 34; Mr. Oscar Dodoo, 35; and Mr. Victor Solorzano, 44.
Police say Shawna Miley is also charged with Contempt of Court for two outstanding warrants.
“I commend members of the Vice Task Force for their commitment towards ensuring that the quality of life in our neighborhoods is always improving,” Director Ambrose said. “These detectives provide an invaluable service to the people of the City of Newark.”
These charges are merely accusations.
Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
