Montclair Resident Fatally Shot in Dover Delaware, Authorities Investigate Second Weekend Homicide

A violent shooting that occurred in Dover Delaware left a Montclair NJ resident fatally wounded Sunday afternoon. 

Dover Police identified the victim as Yusif Lamb, 33, a Montclair resident . Lamb, a 1999 Arts High School was gunned downed Sunday afternoon in the area of South Kirkwood Street according to a Dover Delaware police report. 

The Dover Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the unit block of South Kirkwood Street on Sunday afternoon that took the life of a 33-year-old man from Montclair, New Jersey.  Yusif Lamb, was shot once in the chest, after a confrontation took place on South Kirkwood Street between himself and suspect Shamarr Willingham (32) of Dover.  At this time it is believed that Lamb was riding in a red Jeep Commander and stopped on South Kirkwood Street to confront Willingham, when Willingham fired several shots in the direction of Lamb.  Lamb was struck once in the chest and was later rushed to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, where he was declared deceased after revival efforts were unsuccessful. 

Police issued photos of the red Jeep Commander shortly after the incident in an effort to contact the occupants or owner of the vehicle.  On Sunday, evening, the owner of the vehicle contacted the Dover Police Department and was interviewed in reference to the incident.  The vehicle is now in police custody as evidence.  Detectives have learned there were several persons present at the time of the shooting and are working to identify and contact each individual as part of the investigation.  At this time, Shamarr Willingham has warrants for his arrest for Reckless Endangering 1st Degree and Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony.  Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.

The shooting was the  3rd in the City of Dover, with the first occurring on July 23rd according to police.   This is also the 2nd homicide today, with the first coming just before 1:30AM this morning police said.
