Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced the arrest of 41-year-old Mr. Luis A. Suarez of Montclair on charges related to a homicide in Ramsey.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, December 31, 2023, began when Ramsey Police Department officers responded to a call at 101 Williams Street in Ramsey, NJ. Upon arrival, they discovered a 41-year-old female deceased with a gunshot wound to her head.
The subsequent investigation, jointly conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Ramsey Police Department, identified Luis A. Suarez as the suspect.
He was arrested shortly after in Montclair.
Suarez faces charges of first-degree murder (N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3(a)1) and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1)).
He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending his first court appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
While these charges are serious, Prosecutor Musella emphasizes that they are merely accusations.
Suarez is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
