The day is off to a brighter start with a touch of sunshine, but don't forget your umbrella, as rain is on its way.
According to meteorologists at the National Weather Service, while some areas may experience stormy conditions, the overall weather forecast for today remains mixed.
Currently, the humidity stands at 76%, and the wind speed is calm, creating a tranquil atmosphere.
According to NWS meteorologists, there is a slight chance of showers in the morning, followed by showers and the possibility of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Some of these storms could potentially bring small hail and gusty winds.
Forecasters say as the day progresses, the high temperature is expected to reach around 78 degrees.
The wind will shift from a light south direction to southwest, increasing in speed to 8 to 13 mph by the morning. The chance of precipitation is 80%, with new rainfall amounts projected between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.
However, in areas affected by thunderstorms, higher rainfall amounts are possible.
In addition to monitoring the local weather conditions, meteorologists are keeping a close eye on the arrival of heavy Canadian smoke that is currently moving toward our region from the west. While it poses a potential threat, its impact on the area is yet to be determined.
Remember to exercise caution when encountering thunderstorms and seek shelter indoors if lightning is present.
