A 41-year-old Camden woman reported missing Monday was buried alive in Monroe Twp., two men have been charged with her murder, officials announced today.
Thursday afternoon Judge Edward J. McBride charged both Carlos Alicea-Antonetti, 36, of Camden and Ramon Ortiz, 57, of Pennsauken with murder and set bail at $5 million for each defendant.
According to Camden County Prosecutor's Office, Alicea-Antonetti told investigators he and Ortiz buried Perez alive on Monday.
Allegedly Alicea-Antonetti told detectives that he picked Perez up Monday in a van near her home to take her to buy a car. Perez’s relatives reported that she left home with $8,000 in cash for a car.
Alicea-Antonetti remembered getting into a dispute with Perez. She fell out of the van, and injured herself but getting back into the car, Alicea-Antonetti said.
Alicea-Antonetti than told the detectives he then picked up Ortiz and between them tied Perez up and placed duct tape over her mouth and eyes before driving her to a wooded area in Monroe Twp., pouring lime over her and burying her alive.
However, in Ortiz’s statement he claimed that when got into the vehicle Perez was already tied.
Detectives said they seized more than $7,000 in cash from Alicea-Antonetti.
A coroner's report showed she died of asphyxiation.
