Authorities in Middlesex County announced that a South Plainfield woman was arrested and charged with unlicensed practice of medicine and other offenses.Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that the South Plainfield Police Department, in conjunction with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, commenced an investigation into Yamile Mattos, 61, of South Plainfield, who offered cosmetic procedures, including gluteoplasty and facial wrinkle removal, to the public.
Mattos was arrested and charged with unlicensed practice of medicine and possession with the intent to distribute prescription legend drugs and counterfeit or misbranded prescription legend drugs, County authorities stated.
According to Middlesex County officials, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, police arrested Mattos after undercover investigators met her at 2500 Park Avenue, in South Plainfield, for consults on available medical and cosmetic procedures.
During the undercover operations, Mattos told undercover officers her name was Adrianna, County officials said.
Middlesex County authorities said she offered the officers various services and showed them before and after pictures of purported clients on her cell phone.
While inside the home, undercover officers observed boxes labeled lidocaine and dermal fillers, County officials say.
Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said following Mattos’ arrest, police recovered syringes, dermal fillers, lidocaine, and other substances, as well as various tools and devices for performing cosmetic procedures from the home.Investigators said that Mattos possessed none of the requisite licensing for performing her services, Middlesex County authorities stated.
The investigation is active and continuing.
