Middlesex County Mental Health Counselor Charged with Child Sex Assault

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department announced today that a youth counselor has been arrested and charged with improperly touching a boy under the age of 16 on multiple occasions.

Irving Acevedo, 42, of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge was charged on February 25, 2016 with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The defendant is in custody, waiting for bail to be set.

He was charged during an investigation by Detective Addie Spinola of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim was not one of the children who received counseling from Acevedo, a mental health specialist.
