A tragic early-morning collision on Route 9 South in Parlin is currently under investigation, according to an announcement made by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Sayreville Police Chief Daniel Plumacker.
The early-morning crash occurred Thursday at 5:16 A.M. near 912 US 9 South.
According to the preliminary investigation, authorities arrived at the scene to find a 2020 Kenworth dump truck and a 2000 Ford Ranger involved in the crash.
Police said Mr. Renan Perez, 59, of Linden, the driver of the Ford Ranger, was turning right into a gas station when the Kenworth truck struck his vehicle on the passenger side door.
Perez was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was officially pronounced dead.
Officer Thomas Calise of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective James Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are leading the initial investigation.
Their findings suggest that the Kenworth truck veered off the roadway and onto a grass area, hitting the Ford Ranger as it was positioned on the driveway apron of the gas station.
The impact led the Kenworth truck to travel further, causing significant damage to the exterior of the gas station.
