Middlesex County Announces the 2024 “Don’t Drive Dangerously” Contest Winners

Middlesex County officials are proud to announce the winners of the 2024 “Don’t Drive Dangerously” Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest, which was open to teens in all public and non-public Middlesex County high schools.According to officials, Monroe Township High School won first place in the Video category, and Woodbridge Academy High School won first place in the Audio category.

Other Video category winners included East Brunswick Magnet School in second place and St. Joseph’s High School in third place, officials say.

Officials said the audio category winners included South Plainfield High School in second place and New Brunswick High School in third place.

The winners of Middlesex County’s 24th Annual “Don’t Drive Dangerously” PSA Contest were announced on Tuesday, May 23 at the Middlesex College Student Center, officials stated.

“On behalf of the entire Board of County Commissioners, I’d like to offer my gratitude to all of the participants and congratulate the winners of this year’s PSA contest,” said Director of the Board of County Commissioners Ronald G. Rios.

“This program helps a new generation of motorists spread the message of responsible driving, making our roads and communities safer for residents.”

Authorities say each high school in the County is encouraged to submit a 60-second student-produced video PSA or a 30-second audio PSA annually, which highlights the dangers of driving while impaired or distracted and its consequences.

This program provides teens with the ability to empower their peers to develop healthy driving habits, make better choices, and reduce negative peer pressure while driving, officials said.

“I’m always inspired by young drivers creatively crafting salient messaging to demonstrate the importance of safe driving,” said Deputy Director of the Board of County Commissioners Shanti Narra, chair of the County’s Public Safety and Health Committee.

“Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 PSA award, and I hope all participants carry this important message throughout their lives, responsible driving saves lives.”

Accoridng to officials, the event is co-sponsored by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners, the Middlesex County Superintendent of Schools, the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety, Wellspring Center for Prevention, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and MADD-NJ.
