As Meteorologists Eye Hurricane Debby, Newark Faces Another Hot, But Dry Day

While Hurricane Debby stirs concerns in Florida and the southern east coast, residents in Newark and the northern New Jersey region can expect a relatively tranquil but very hot start to the week.AdAccording to the National Weather Service (NWS), today is set to be one of the hottest and driest days of the summer so far.

This morning, the temperature kicked off at a warm 75 degrees. Forecasts predicted a sunny day ahead, reaching a high near 91 degrees.

Although the day will largely be clear, NWS forecasters say there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after 2 p.m.

Winds will be calm, shifting southwest at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.AdTonight, the area will see a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms both before 8 p.m. and after 2 a.m., with the skies remaining partly cloudy. The overnight low is expected to hover around 75 degrees.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the day while staying hydrated and taking necessary precautions to beat the heat.
