Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Hamilton Township Chief of Police James W. Collins reported that a two-week investigation by the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force concluded on Tuesday with one arrest, and the seizure of steroids and cash.
Onofri stated that at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, task force officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of the target’s 2017 Mercedes-Benz. Andrew M. Jiras was detained without incident and officers executed search warrants at his residence on Burtis Avenue in Hamilton.
A search of the residence and the vehicle revealed approximately 28 small glass vials containing a liquid form of anabolic steroids, 83 assorted steroid pills, $1,576 in cash, a digital scale, syringes and hundreds of small plastic baggies used for drug distribution. The approximate street value of the seized drugs is $4,600.
Jiras, 25, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, the Hamilton and Trenton police departments, and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted with the investigation.
