Police in Newark are attempting to determine if a double stabbing that occurred in two wards Sunday night are connected.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of South 10th Street and South Orange Avenue after they received reports of a person stabbed at that location.
Units arrived at the scene and found a male suffering a non-life threatening stab wound according to reports. The victim was transported to University Hospital where doctors treated his injuries.
A short time later, police were called to the Central Ward neighborhood of Kent Street -30' block- to investigate reports of a stabbing in progress.
First responding officers found a male victim bleeding after suffering a stab wound to the arm. Police assisted the victim until EMS arrived at the scene to transport the victim to the hospital.
The motive for both stabbings remains under investigation.
