The East Orange School District and Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts proudly added another feather to its cap with the success story of alumnus Mr. Darryl Lloyd Jr.SupportDarryl's recent performance in Vincenzo Bellini's opera Norma, alongside his veteran teacher and mentor Dr. Oscar Petty Jr., showcases his remarkable journey and deep love for his alma mater.

RLS Media has learned that Darryl's performance with the NJ Opera Theater, based at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ, marks his second professional engagement with the company.

The Artistic Director and founder, Mr. Joseph Mayon, has cultivated a diverse orchestra comprising professionals, volunteers, and students.

East Orange As a talented percussionist, Darryl expertly plays the timpani and various other percussion instruments.

A proud graduate of the Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Art in East Orange, New Jersey, Darryl is now in his third year as a music major at Montclair State University.

His dedication to music has earned him the prestigious Maestro Award for Excellence from Worldstrides and Heritage Music Festivals.

Darryl's aspirations to become both a teacher and a professional musician highlight the importance of arts education in nurturing future educators.

The Cicely Tyson School's mission to provide a safe and enriching learning environment profoundly impacted Darryl's academic and emotional development.
