Authorities have recovered a medical van that was carjacked at gunpoint this morning after the vehicle's tracking system led police to it.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. the driver of the medical van exited a building on Park Avenue when a man approached him and asked him if he could borrow his cellphone.
Shortly after, the suspect returned the van driver's cellphone and carjacked the victim at gunpoint.
The driver immediately informed police that he believed that the van had a GPS tracking system. Minutes later, the van was tracked down to the area of Summit Avenue and Newkirk Street.
The unoccupied vehicle was recovered.
The incident remains under investigation.
