Maplewood Police are investigating a violent incident that occurred on Monday, August 12, which resulted in the arrest of a local man.
In a brief statement, authorities reported that Maplewood Police officers responded to a call about an aggravated assault at a residence on Florida Street.
Upon arrival and after conducting an on-scene investigation on a person attacked, officers arrested Mr. Steven Hemmings, 34, a Maplewood resident.
Hemmings has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on an officer, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
He was subsequently transported to the Essex County jail as the investigation continues.
