Manhattan Resident Identified as Woman Found Dead in Newark

Newark -- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the woman found dead on Monday evening has been identified as Francine Vincent, 25, of Manhattan.

According to authorities, the woman was found in the driveway of a home and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Vincent's death has not been ruled a homicide at this time authorities said.

The exact cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.

Newark police officers were dispatched to 300 block of South 20th Street shortly after 9:00 p.m. Arriving officers located an unresponsive woman in the driveway of a residence.

The investigation, which is active and ongoing, is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force.
