Authorities have arrested a 41-year-old Newark man wanted for a shooting that occurred on December 12, 2017.
According to authorities, at approximately 12:15 a.m., police responded to the 200-block of Renner Avenue on a call of a shooting.
Upon arrival, police learned that a dispute between the male victim and suspect - who knew each other - ensued leading to the shooting.
Police said the victim arrived at Newark Beth Israel Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
A second victim was also shot at during the incident, but was uninjured.
Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify William Johnson as a suspect in this shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Police arrested Johnson today without incident.
These charges are merely accusations. This suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
