The Newark Police Department says they have arrested a 21-year-old man wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last month with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals.
According to police, around midnight on October 14th, a male victim was assaulted and robbed on the 100-block of Delavan Avenue by a group of males who allegedly threatened his life before fleeing from the scene.
The victim was treated and released from East Orange General Hospital authorities said.
Investigating detectives ultimately developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Ivan Figueroa, 21, of Newark, as a suspect in this robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Terroristic Threats, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
Newark Police Division detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Figueroa yesterday in Phillipsburg, New Jersey without incident.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This investigation is active and ongoing as additional suspects remain at large.
