New Jersey Transit officials are continuing to investigate an incident in which a Gladstone Branch train struck and injured an adult male near Broad Street Station in Newark.The collision occurred at approximately 7:18 p.m. on December 17, involving train 439, which had departed Hoboken at 6:48 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Gladstone at 8:05 p.m., according to information released by New Jersey Transit.
The injured individual was transported to a hospital for treatment.
As of now, the extent of the man’s injuries has not been disclosed. None of the approximately 100 passengers and crew members aboard the train were injured during the incident.
Following the accident, train traffic in the area faced delays of up to 30 minutes as authorities worked to clear the scene.
New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.Officials have not yet released further details, and the investigation remains ongoing.
