Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating a homicide.
Hospital officials said on Monday, Michael A. Johnson, 28, of Newark died of injuries sustained from a shooting in the spring.
Authorities said, Johnson was shot on April 28 in the vicinity of 63 Voorhees Street in Newark. He was released from the hospital and appeared to be recovering prior to his death on November 26th . at The University Hospital authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation.
