Jersey City Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man seriously injured in the city.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Summit Street just before 7:50 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene to find a male victim suffering more than a half-dozen time at that location.
The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center suffering life-threatening injuries according to reports.
Police took one person into custody and reportedly recovered a weapon at the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
