Police in Irvington Township has taken the lead in an investigation involving a shooting that injured a male victim on the border of Newark Saturday night.
According to police, at approximately 7 p.m., in the vicinity of South 20th Street and 18th Avenue.
Police officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the neighborhood and when they arrived, they found a male victim suffered bullet wounds in his leg.
Authorities believe that the two male suspects exited a blue Honda CRV and began firing in the victim's direction before speeding away from the scene.
Police say the injured was transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
The motive for the attack is under investigation.
