The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation into a shooting that killed a man earlier today in East Orange.
Residents at a housing complex on South Oraton Parkway and Chestnut Street were stunned to see a man crouched on the ground suffering bullet wounds before 4:45 p.m.
Police and EMS rushed to the scene and found the unidentified male in the parking lot suffering severe injuries.
Witnesses said an armed man approached and began to fire multi-rounds at the victim at point-blank range.
The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
