EMS rushed a male victim to Jersey City Medical Center after a late night shooting that erupted in the city.
An eruption of gunfire sent police to the 100 block of Virginia Ave. shortly before 9 p.m. where units arrived to the scene to find a male victim bleeding heavily after being struck by gunfire to the back. The bullet reportedly exited the victim's chest.
The man's injuries was reported as serious as of early this morning.
A crime scene was established in the area, but there were no arrests immediately reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by the Jersey City Police Department.
