On Friday, an Essex County man was sentenced to serve jail time for a deadly shooting during the COVID-19 pandemic in Newark.
After a plea deal, Alfuquan Williams, 28, of Newark, must serve 85% of an 18 year sentence before he is eligible for parole, county officials said.
According to authorities, residents in the vicinity of 381 South 6th Street dialed 911 around 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, October 28, after they heard several individuals engaged in a heated verbal dispute.
According to witnesses, they heard multiple rounds of gunfire that rang out shortly after the argument.
Several police units arrived and found a woman suffering life-threatening bullet wounds in her head.
Police say two other victims were also found shot at that location.
According to Essex County officials, Ms. Precious Adams, 23, of East Orange, was pronounced dead a short time later.
