Police in Newark are on the search for a violent robbery suspect who robbed a man on a West Ward street then physically assaulted him on Monday evening.
It happened in the vicinity of South 9th Street and 14th Avenue at around 11:40 p.m. according to preliminary reports.
Authorities say a black male suspect approached the victim and demanded personal possessions before the vicious beating occurred. EMS arrived at the scene to treat non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene westbound on 14th Avenue and remains at-large.
