Authorities in Norfolk Virginia has identified the victim who was gunned down in the city on early Sunday morning as a former Newark NJ resident.
According to a statement from police, there is an active homicide investigation into the motive for the shooting that killed 24-year-old Mr. Samad Brailsford of Norfolk.
Police say they were called to the 3100 block of Oklahoma Avenue at approximately 3:15 a.m. to investigate reports of shots fired.
According to authorities, officers found Brailsford outside a home suffering gunshot wounds.
Norfolk Fire-Rescue Medics rushed Brailsford to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries where he later died.
Authorities have not released any suspect description or motive for the fatal shooting.
Brailsford's homicide makes the second fatal shooting in less than 24-hours and eight other incidents of shots fired in Norfolk.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
