NJ Transit Police will investigate a train strike that left a man dead on the tracks in Monmouth County Sunday morning.
According to NJ Transit officials, at approximately 3:03 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 4795, which departed Long Branch at 2:42 a.m., was scheduled to arrive in Bay Head at 3:22 a.m., struck and fatally injured a male pedestrian just east of Spring Lake station.
Officials said there were no injuries to the approximately eight customers or the crew on board at the time.
NJ Transit officials say this was the last train of the service day so there were no other service impacts.
