Man Killed in Newark South Ward Shooting

Authorities are conducting an active investigation into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 33-year-old man in Newark's South Ward early this morning.SupportThe Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken the lead in investigating the violent incident, which occurred around 12:10 a.m. near 139 Chadwick Avenue.

Newark Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area and found an unconscious and unresponsive male victim lying on the ground, suffering from severe gunshot wounds.

The victim was immediately transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m.

The motive for the shooting has not yet been released, and no arrests have been reported as the investigation continues.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.Support
