Authorities from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Bogota Police Department are actively investigating a devastating fire that occurred earlier today at 320 River Road.
The incident unfolded around 5:59 a.m. when the Bogota Police Department received an urgent report of a fire blazing at the River Road residence.
In an urgent response, police officers rushed to the scene alongside the Bogota Fire Department and neighboring fire departments. Upon arrival, first responders encountered a grim situation, finding an unconscious male victim within the house.
Despite their heroic efforts, the victim could not be revived and was later pronounced deceased at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Fortunately, a female resident managed to escape from the burning building before police and firefighters arrived.
Emergency medical services promptly assessed her condition, but she chose not to be transported to a hospital.
At this time, an intensive investigation is being led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the guidance of Chief Jason Love.
As details emerge, authorities will continue their efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
