Man, Juveniles Arrested in Connection with Newark Armed Robbery

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces the arrest of Davon Elliott, 19, of Newark, and two juvenile males, ages 16 and 17, in connection with Thursday's armed robbery.

According to police, at approximately 9:50 a.m., a 41-year old male victim flagged down officers patrolling the area of West Kinney and Nevada streets stating that he and another male victim were robbed at gunpoint.

The victims said three males approached them in the area of Broad Street and Lincoln Park, brandished a handgun and stole their cash and personal items.

The victims directed police to the suspects’ location on West Kinney Street. Davon Elliott and the two juveniles were found in possession of the victims’ property.

Police also seized the handgun - starter or replica - used in the robbery.

Elliot and both juveniles were arrested and charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an

unlawful purpose and conspiracy.

“I commend the arresting officers for their quick response in apprehending these suspects and for removing an illegal handgun from our streets,” Director Ambrose said.
