Police in Newark’s East Ward are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting that left one person injured.
The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. in the area of 45 Camp Street. Responding officers discovered an unidentified male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment, though his condition has not been confirmed.
According to preliminary information, two suspects reportedly approached the victim and opened fire before fleeing the scene toward McCarter Highway.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact the Newark Police Department.
