Police responded to Wawa over the weekend, after a man entered the business armed threatening to kill himself.
Police responded to the Route 37 Wawa shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday for a report of an armed male threatening suicide.
According to police, the man shot himself while police were at the store.
The man was transported to Community Medical Center in unknown condition but was later transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
The man's identity is being withheld, added police.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation.
