Hillside police are currently investigating an unfortunate incident that occurred this afternoon, where a man reportedly jumped from the Route 22 bridge overpass on Liberty Avenue.
The incident was first reported around 3:00 PM today when emergency dispatchers received a call about an individual who appeared to have jumped from the overpass.
Responding units quickly arrived at the scene and discovered an unresponsive male in the CVS parking lot on Liberty Avenue.
The man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for severe injuries.
Authorities have not released further details about the man's identity or the circumstances leading up to the fall as the investigation continues.
The Hillside Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist with their ongoing inquiry.
