Man Grazed by Gunfire in Newark’s West Ward

A man was injured in a shooting near North Munn Avenue and Tremont Avenue in Newark earlier today, according to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda.  

Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 12:42 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, through a ShotSpotter notification.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim walking in the 700 block of South Orange Avenue. He had been grazed by gunfire.   Ad

The man was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.  

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
