The Elizabeth Police Department were called to University Hospital early this morning to look into a stabbing that left a man injured overnight.
According to preliminary reports, Newark Police responded to an address in the teen block of Pennington Street just before 5:20 a.m. where they found a male victim, around the age of 25-years-old, bleeding after suffering an apparent laceration to his side.
EMS transported the conscious and alert victim to the hospital where his injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
The victim reported to police that while near an unidentified chicken shack in Elizabeth, he was approached and attacked with a sharp object by an assailant.
The victim reportedly walked to the Newark address where he sought help for his injury.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
